Turkeys

I am a member of the Native Plant Society of New Jersey. This past Saturday was the annual conference, and like much this year was an online event.

During one of the talks, which included a discussions on deer, there was a question as to the possible negative effect of deer fencing on other wildlife, such as Wild Turkeys (which were specifically mentioned).

As can be seen in these images, the Turkeys do not seem to have a problem with the fence (there are on the order of the twenty in these images). At least when it comes to getting in the yard. Some do have difficulty getting out though. They seem to forget that they can fly.

Other critters that we see in the yard, and on the blog, include fox, raccoon, opossum, rabbit, neighborhood cats, but no deer in the fenced zone.
