Which is now the part of the Ireland Brook Conservation Area, as per the brand new sign.
We've been going to Beekman Road to see the Spotted Salamanders since 2015*. And this was our best night ever.
The star of the show. And in a little over an hour we saw twenty-five of the critters.
And overall there were close to (and probably over) 100 of the road crossing amphibians.
On warm raining nights in late winter - early spring the mini-migration of salamanders, frogs, and toads, from the woods to the ponds, occurs.
And because of the efforts of the Friends of the East Brusnwick Environmental Commission, on those nights Beekman Road is closed to all but foot traffic. (These same people are responsible for National Moth Week. Pretty cool.)
A Red Eft, only the second we've seen at Beekman.
One of several Wood Frogs. We also saw quite a few Northern Spring Peepers. Alas, none of my pictures were any good.
It really was a great night and well worth the hour drive from our place.

* Although not every year it seems.
What were we doing in 2017 and 2018 I wonder?
