Tropical Storm Isaias came barreling through our neck of the woods today. And our woods has one less tree standing in it.
This one:
That's Patty at the far end. Fortunately, it was well away from our house, which is visible in the background.
Interestingly, it snapped some twenty feet up. When I first spotted it lying on the ground I was somewhat confused. "Where was the 'stump' where it had broken from", I searched and wondered.
On the way down it knocked a branch off the willow tree in the Bench Garden, and knocked over the bench. Had it snapped at the base it may have reached the fence around our back garden, so we got lucky there.
And we were pretty lucky overall. A few other branches fell and we lost power for about two hours (we so need a generator). But that was it. We've friends without power, one of which isn't scheduled to have it restored until Friday (and I'm writing this on Tuesday). Not good.
Until the next storm ...
