Snakes

I began my day, after the morning chores (we have cats and it was trash day*), with a cup of coffee on the deck. And I noticed this in the fish pond.

A snake skin, Northern Water Snake no doubt. There was more, but it was hard to photograph with the reflections. Sharp eyed observers will see me in them.

Sure enough, there was a Northern Water Snake hiding under the fake rock cover for the filter box.

And then, as I was heading back inside ...

... a Black Rat Snake was slithering across the deck.

It curled up in the corner obviously unhappy with my presence. So I snapped a few picks and let it be.

A two snake day. A nice break from all those caterpillars.
