Orangestriped Oakworm

Anisota senatoria, very distinctive with chocolate and orange stripes, and black horns all along its body.

I spotted this one as I exited my car at the Edwin B. Forsythe NWR Labor Day weekend. It is lucky I didn't step on it. And I was lucky that I could photograph it (and didn't need to clean the bottom of my boot).

A caterpillar week bonus critter. And a reminder that you can find caterpillars anywhere, so get out and start looking!
