Yard Pest of the Week

The Field Guide To Insects And Spiders Of North America, by Arthur V. Evans, calls this critter, "the most important termite pests in eastern North America".

The Eastern Subterranean Termite, Reticulitermes flavipes.

I found these swarming along the back border of our property. I was not happy.

I did what I could to eliminate the threat. Hopefully the Ovenbirds and other warblers will do their part as well.
