They were even between my toes!

Seems they are contagious.
I picked them off and killed them. Although not before getting my 5x macro lens out!
I think these are actually tick nymphs.
Tiny little things, small as the "." at the end of this sentence.
That gear looking thing in the background is the edge of a US 25¢ piece. They could fit in in the gaps.
So check your pocket change, there may be chiggers hiding in there!
