Our stakeout was successful.
We were at the Burlington County Fairgrounds, watching for the bird shown in the image above. A Short-eared Owl.
We were treated to an owl show. We saw at least six, four of which are in the image above.
And while distant ...
This is as close as they came (I so need a longer lens). Unlike the previous evening when our friend Terry (our other friend Terry) had them flying over her head!
There were a variety of raptors there as well including ...
... multiple Northern Harriers, like this male "Gray Ghost" ...
... and this rather dark, and distant, Red-tailed Hawk, one of several. We also saw one and maybe two Rough-legged Hawks,, the resident nesting Bald Eagle pair, and an American Kestrel.
All in all a very successful stakeout.
(And I so need a longer lens ...)
