A Blue-winged Warbler, splashing about in the bird bath.
It turns out that bath not only helps birds stay cool, it is also an antidote to a 'bad feather day'.
And while I personally wouldn't know anything about this, I'm told it is apparently similar to how taking a shower can remedy a bad hair day. As feathers become mussed up during normal usage, the water tends to smooth them out. And, helped along with a bit of preening, the feathers are returned into place, lined up and ready to fly.
A clean source of fresh water, with nearby cover, is one of the best things to add to your yard to attract birds. Especially, as we've (and you've) seen with birds like warblers, which do not come to feeders.
