Fledging

A week and a half ago I blogged about a Carolina Wren nest in our feeder garden, just outside our living room.

A couple of days ago as we were watching TV in that living room (Ted Lasso, highly recommended) one of our cats, Max, for very excited and ran to the screen door. A fledgling Carolina Wren had 'landed' on the screen. It flew before I got a picture, eventually settling on the Bog Garden rain barrel.

Look at that stubbly tail.

In all four birds fledged that evening.

Three can be seen in this image. One in the upper right, one on the same branch a bit lower, and one in the lower left corner.

The upper two ..

... the lower bird. Look at those feathers!

The parents were screaming the whole time, trying to get them to the woods edge and then into the trees to roost for the night.

Incredibly cool to see these birds leave the nest. And from the comfort of our living room.

Putting in the sliding doors was a great idea. And it was all Patty's doing. Thanks you!
