A Bit Further Down The Fence ...

At the same time the Black and White Warbler was flitting around outside my office window, so was another warbler.


A Prothonotary Warbler.


Actually two. Another local breeder, we've had as many as six in the yard at one time.


Like the Scarlet Tanager, these have been all about the yard for the past month.

A couple of years ago we put up some nest boxen out in the State Forest behind our place as well as one by our back pond. And while we've seen them poking around we've not found any evidence of actual use. But no matter, as they seem to be doing fine without our help.

And that's a good thing.
