We've had a Scarlet Tanager visiting our birdbaths for close to a month now. The hotter the temps the more likely the visit, or so it seems.
We've had these birds as occasional visitors over the years. The previous record was about two weeks for an end of summer bird.
Curiously, while I've heard it calling a couple times while out in the yard, we've not seen a female. Nor young.
With our gardens maturing and now deer free, we've plenty of insects for the tanagers to feed on. Hopefully, this one finds our yard to its liking. And returns next year, along with a female companion.
