This image was taken 46 seconds after the one in the prior post. You can see the sun has risen above the clouds. Note how the base of the sun seems to flow onto the horizon. And at the very top of the sun you can see a bit that seems to be floating above ball (click here for a larger version). And just maybe this is the very elusive blue flash (but I'm not really sure).

@ Greg: No filter (other than a UV filter on the end of the lens). With the sun this low on the horizon a filter is not required. But I would be remiss if I did not mention that looking at the sun through the lens is a risky business and can result in permanent damage to one's vision. I use the view screen on the back of the camera to compose the shot (trial and error with my cameras, much easier if you have live view). The Circle theme image was shot through a filter (and the sun was several solar diameters about the horizon for that one).
