There's A Snake at the Door

So there was ...

A Black Rat Snake

Patty had a couple of friends over and walked them to their cars as they were leaving. And when she returned to the house spotted this fellow.

I guess it wanted in on the fun?

Fortunately for all involved, they had gone out a different door, and didn't let the snake in. Then at that door Patty leaned in and whispered, "Come, and bring the camera!".

It was not obvious how the snake got up there. It continues to amaze me that snakes can climb.

(Remember that the next time you're walking through the woods.)

Nor what it was looking for.

It seemed completely disinterested in Patty and I. As I was shooting with a 600mm lens, I was a good distance away. Still, it seemed remarkably calm as we went in and out a door maybe three meters away.

Figuring I'm taken enough shots I headed back inside. Patty had already gone in.

As I was downloading the images to my computer, Patty looked up from her desk and noticed it was climbing down. So I grabbed one last shot out the office window.

We went out to look for it, but it was nowhere to be seen. Under the deck no doubt.
