Weekend Wanderings ... Migrant Dipping (Part 1)

"I think we should wake up early and go to Magnolia Road and Evert Preserve to look for Louisiana Waterthrush* tomorrow morning", said Patty Saturday evening.

And thus I knew I wouldn't be sleeping in on Sunday.

First stop, what we call "Magnolia Marsh". If only for the alliteration.

We started down a very pretty path.

Although as Patty pointed out, fog hampers one's slight lines.

These signs were on either side of the road, the implication being that the road was not part of the state forest.

There are birds out there somewhere ...

Apparently they cut this tree down. Since it didn't fall down on its own.

One wonders what project never got completed.

A very pretty morning.

Although you may have noticed, not one of the images in this post is of a bird.

An I've posted an image of every bird we saw.

Dipped big time.

As with all good birding trips, they should start and end at a local tavern.

* We have a Louisiana Waterthrush calling from the woods behind our place. And it has been for close to a week now. And it was calling when we got home. So why did we need to wake up?
