I was sitting on the deck, enjoying a beverage after doing some yard work when it happened.
Lightning quick, snatched in mid flight.
I had hoped it got one of those very annoying biting flies (it didn't).
And of course I went and got my camera.
A female Eastern Pondhawk had captured what appears to be a crane fly.
Now we have plenty of dragonflies patrolling our yard. But this is the first I'd ever seen a capture in mid flight. Very cool.
Although it happened so quickly I didn't really see it.
Now if they would just start eating the biting flies ...
