365 Theme 335: Transparent
This young lady, a juvenile female slaty skimmer, was a very cooperative model. Most dragonflies are very skittish, flying away at the least movement of camera or photographer. But this one allowed me to move right in and get a number of shots.

Wow, great shot, she's beautiful, the wing detail is great!
What a gorgeous lady! Such finery. This is the first shot I've seen of one so still. She is showing it all off. Great shot! Good colors too.
Superb photo of a dragonfly. You were lucky to get one to stay put long enough to get a few shots. I'm curious though, how do you know this is a female?
@ Mike. This one was very docile. I was actually able to touch it, and did so to make sure it was alive. As to how I know it was a female, I found out via this site:
http://www.njodes.com/
Which has a photo guide to the dragonflies and damselflies found in NJ. I confirmed it with a field guide I own, "Dragonflies through Binoculars" by Sidney W. Dunkle.
@ Everyone. Thanks.
Unbelievable clarity on those gossamer wings, Boy am I jealous! Great Capture.
What a spectacular shot, I love every detail in this beauty!
i wonder if it was fresh? maybe that's why it was so docile? it looks very shimmery like a newborn... i forget what they call that in dragonflies...
This is fantastic, whatever the reason it was so still it certainly made for a stunner of a shot.
