365 Theme 196: Navigational Aids

For ships of both air and sea. Do you think they had this in mind?

This lighthouse is Twin Lights in Highlands, NJ. First built in 1828 this building was erected in 1862. Decommissioned in 1949 and acquired by the state of New Jersey in 1962, which now operates it as a historical museum.

What a splendid find! Nice antique architecture too. Lovely old building. Love the color and patina the brick has acquired after all these years. Nice stetting in the trees. Guess those houses, if they are near the beach, can feel safe that a ship isn't going to run into them any time soon. :D Does that blimp fly over it all the time??

@ Iona: I don't know. I no longer live in the area, although my parents do. I went to high school behind the lights, Henry Hudson Regional, and there was no blimp then! I suspect this was a floating ad meant for the Labor Day beach crowd.

Love this shot - what a brilliant scene here! Love all the details in that old building!!

Probably the TV was using them as a navigational aide, too.

Lovely pic... did you take it while waiting for the bridge to go down?

@ Chesney: Thank you.

@ Laura: Thanks. No, from the parking lot before you got there. And I think maybe both TV's.
