An Unexpected Encounter

In summer 2013 Patty and I visited Nova Scotia. And we went hiking in Cape Breton Highlands National Park.

And one of the hikes we did was the Skyline Trail, which ends with the view shown above.

The first paragraph on the site linked above includes this sentence,

"Be cautious with children around the cliffs
and give moose a wide berth."

And on the return trip we came upon this individual.

Not fifty feet from the trail. And meandering closer.

Of course we stopped to take pictures.

As did everyone else coming or going along the path.

We all moved further back, wide berth and all that, as it approached the trail.

Good thing we were headed in the other direction.

It was an article in The Atlantic that brought back the memory of this Moose. This article, Climate Change Enters Its Blood-Sucking Phase, which I read last week.

That in turn reminded me of this image:

Zooming in ...

I remember this Moose seemed somewhat lethargic and disinterested in the small crowd gathering to gawk and photograph.

To bad we can't tell moose, "give ticks a wide berth."
