I went wandering about the Trenton Marsh with friends today. It was gorgeous out, sunny, blues skies, warm. Springlike even. And I was able to shoot this little fellow. Any guess as to what it is?

After you guess, click here to see a better shot and to see if you got it right!

Good luck.

I have never see one of those before. Very interesting, he must run fast since he looks like he has long legs. I got another red-shouldered hawk today. Felt so lucky.

That would be a Western Plains Mooning Bird, they make a slight fluffing sound and tend to be a tad oderiferous. LOL
At least you gort the tail, where did its head go?

I actually like this photo better! The focus is spot on. And it's sort of whimsical and also leaves you wanting more.

Hey Steve. I really like this photo, as it resembles what I most often see in the field :^). Thanks for a great day of birding, hiking, and conversation. I'm feeling much better today than I did when we got back to the cars yesterday. Damn cold! Check your e-mail for information on the Rutgers course.

This is one of those tree creepers, but don't know their "real" name. Nice shot, however.

It is a Ruby-crowned Kinglet.

I think I like this as much or more than the whole bird. Both are fine
